What’s your sector focus at Avocet and why do you like it?

I specialise in recruiting for architecture and design roles across the South West, working with a variety of practices from large, multidisciplinary firms to smaller, design-led studios. I love the sector because it brings together creativity, problem-solving, and technical expertise. No two briefs are the same, and it’s incredibly rewarding to connect talented professionals with studios where they can have a real impact on the built environment.

What future developments in the construction sector excite you?

One project that really stands out is the planned Water Lane development in Exeter. It’s an ambitious regeneration of a brownfield site that will deliver sustainable housing and commercial spaces right on the edge of the city centre. What excites me is the focus on low-carbon design, walkability, and low-car planning – elements that show how architecture and construction can work hand in hand to create places that are not only functional, but genuinely improve quality of life. Developments like this are a great example of how the sector is shifting towards more environmentally responsible and design-conscious outcomes.

In your opinion, what makes Avocet different?

What drew me to Avocet is the genuinely personal and consultative approach we take. With experience in both the property and recruitment sectors – and a real passion for architecture and the built environment – I understand the value of finding the right fit, not just in terms of skills, but also culture and ambition. At Avocet, we focus on building long-term relationships and delivering an exceptional service.
